The smallest in the world born boy was discharged home. The boy was born in a Tokyo hospital in August 2018 by caesarean section. At birth his weight was 268 grams (9.45 in oz). A few months later, his healthy was discharged from the hospital, according to hospital Keio University.
According to Reuters, during pregnancy the mother the boy failed to gain weight, and doctors, fearing for his health, decided to do a cesarean section. The boy was in intensive care up until his weight reached 3.2 kg, and he was discharged on 20 February, said Dr. Takeshi Arimitsu.
According to the registry of the Tiniest Babies at the University of Iowa, the previous record was the boy born in Germany in 2009, weighing 274 grams.
According to the same registry, the smallest girl weighing 252 grams was also born in Germany in 2015.
