Given how zealously the modern Republicans are defending only the narrow party interests, the dismissal of Donald trump becomes inevitable in order to in the United States once again prevailed over the rule of law.
Since Richard Nixon, presidents-Republicans justified their actions by Patriotic considerations, and the Democrats did not condemn them out of humanity, convincing themselves that opponents have reached the limit beyond which more will not go, and every time was wrong.
Nixon resigned in 1974, when it became clear that his attempts to cover up the Watergate scandal are obstructing justice. The leaders of the Republicans,
which was guided by legal norms, convinced the President that if the House of representatives would declare the impeachment, so did the Senate.
Subsequently, Gerald Ford pardoned the predecessor who escaped formal and public condemnation. Moreover, the supporters of Nixon and even acquitted him of the crimes, and the liberals don’t have any desire to prove it does not.
Since the Republicans constantly violate the law or violate constitutional norms, assuring that it is necessary in the interests of the country. When it became clear that the White house was involved in the sale of arms to Iran in order to obtain money to Finance the “contras” in Nicaragua, Ronald Reagan recognized this fact, but added that, they say, to do otherwise was not possible. His successor George HW Bush pardoned 6 the main participants in the scandal, stating that they were guided by a sense of patriotism, “regardless of whether their actions are correct or not,” and instituted an investigation against them was “the criminalization of party differences.”
Despite the high popularity of bill Clinton, it did not prevent then-speaker Newt Gingrich, guided by ideological considerations, to begin impeachment proceedings for perjury under oath. But most Americans considered the charges politically motivated, the President’s rating has continued to grow and in the end, the Senate did not dare to send him into retirement.
After coming to power of George W. Bush, the Republicans continued to violate the law. To justify the 2003 invasion of Iraq representatives of the administration presented false evidence that the country has weapons of mass destruction.
During the reign of Barack Obama, the party interests were once again above the law. The Republicans, led by majority leader in the Senate Mitch McConnell not only refused to cooperate with opponents during the drafting of legislation, but, in spite of
the norms of the Constitution, to discuss the candidacy of the new member
Of the Supreme court.
Even before the election of 2016 the Republicans did not hide that intend, if elected, Hillary Clinton to announce her impeachment for the use of private mail servers for official correspondence or involvement in the activities of the Clinton Foundation. McConnell again has played a destructive role, when disrupted the signing of the joint with the Obama administration and Democrats in Congress allegations that Russia is trying to interfere in the electoral process. And opponents did not condemn such behavior, so as not to appear as defenders of party interests that could be one of the factors which led to the victory of trump.
Then the Republicans threatened to impeach Clinton, ignored the fact that their representative is making a packet
his election to the position of and appoint in the administration of the friends and immediate family. They didn’t notice the dismissal of FBI Director James Comey who first started the investigation of Russia’s actions.
In may, the administration did not meet the subpoenas, sent by the Congress because, as stated by trump, the investigation was “undoubtedly the party of reason.” The lack of “objective goals” referred to the Minister of Finance Steven Mnuchin and did not apply to the Committee on appropriations of the house of representatives information about the tax returns of the President. In General, the Executive power had attempted to impose its will on the legislative branch, having similar powers. Once again, the Republicans said nothing, as when trump has declared a state of emergency, to raise funds for the construction of the wall. In the end we reached that White house officials told the court that Congress has no right to determine whether the President committed a crime.
It is significant that for making the Trump of impeachment voted only one Republican in the House of representatives Justin Amash from Michigan. Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller has collected compelling evidence that the President obstructed justice when for the cessation of the investigation was fired in Komi Republic and called on members of the administration to commit perjury. His report also stated that the Constitution not only allows, but requires the Congress to control the actions of the President, but, nevertheless, the rules that govern the justice Ministry, says that he can’t even face charges.
While the Republicans are in the majority in the Senate, Trump is unlikely to be letters of impeachment, whatever the evidence. But the very beginning of this process in both houses could debunk the view that the initiators of the investigation are guided by party considerations, and to convince you that the President, whether Democrat or Republican, must comply with the requirements
the law and the Constitution.
In 1974 this was not necessary, since Republican leaders have forced my party to leave the White house. Now they are not ready for such, and this makes it likely the slide of America into authoritarianism.
Trump understands that when he for one reason or another will remain without the protection provided him by title, and like-minded people in the Senate, it will be brought to justice. And characteristically, he has publicly stated that they do not like Nixon. “The big difference between us zaklyuchaetsya that I will not leave”, — he admitted to these words is difficult to add anything…
