Representatives of “Gazprom” is ready to make some concessions for Ukraine and for a short time to extend the existing contract on gas transit.
Journalists resource Reuters reported that Moscow is considering a contract extension for another year.
It is worth noting that in Kiev want to sign a new contract for a period of 10 years, however it is not beneficial to Russia itself. The source reports that Moscow is ready to bet exclusively on one more year.
Some sources from the EU said that they are aware of such plans from outside “Gazprom”. But in the Ministry of energy and “Gazprom” from comments have refused.
The contract expires on 31 December 2019. And at the end of the year Russia plans to launch two new gas pipelines bypassing Ukraine: “Nord stream – 2” and “Turkish stream”. Kyiv is that the background of its gas pipeline system will be unused.
