Doctors from Harvard University examined how the drinks based on caffeine effect on health of people suffering from migraines. The results of their research in an article published in the American Journal of Medicine.
Migraine — a neurological disease, accompanied by severe headaches. Reasons for its development remain a mystery. Seizures can provoke physical stress, food, weather, lack of sleep or other stimuli.
As noted by doctor Elizabeth Mostofsky suffering from headaches complain that some drinks can cause them to have seizures.
She and her colleagues conducted a study in which one hundred people for six months, talked in detail about how often they have the pain and what they ate and drank.
As the analysis of the diaries of the volunteers drinks containing caffeine, actually has an impact on their health, but their effect manifested itself only when relatively large quantities of alcohol consumed.
“Our observations show that daily consumption of one to two cups of coffee or other beverages with caffeine will not affect the health of people suffering from migraines,” says Mostofsky.
For example, the likelihood of developing headaches increased by about 30-40 percent after three cups of coffee a day and was almost three times higher when patients drank more than five servings of the drink.
All this, according to doctors, should be considered both by the victims of migraine, and physicians.
