Blocked supply of carbon fiber for the orbital telescope.
The company, which the British bought US refused to sell Russia a carbon fiber for astrophysical space Observatory “Spektr-M”. Fortunately, the project was able to save thanks to a new Japanese vendor, but as they say, osadochek remained, moreover, that there is a clear US desire to strike at the space program of Russia.
The launch of the newest space Observatory is scheduled for 2027, the details told RIA Novosti Deputy head of the Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences Larisa Likhacheva. The exact date depends on financing of the project, but also the US is actively interfering “Spectrum-M”. After the United States purchased the British firm, which supplies carbon fibre, and from there began to come the “warm” letter of refusal, so we had to look for another supplier. And this was the Japanese group Sumitomo.
While Likhachev added that the case of the failure of the supply of carbon fibres is not unique. A similar situation occurred and other suppliers of chips. After the US intervention, they also began to send letters instead of the product ordered.
“Some of the unique IC – suppliers of us speak good words, but, nevertheless, they are not sent. And we’ve already replaced,” said Larisa Likhacheva.
Space Observatory “Spektr-M” is created to study objects in the Universe in the millimeter and infrared bands at wavelengths of from 0.02 to 17 mm. This should help scientists better understand the structure and the structure of the universe, to get data on organic compounds in space.
