In Istanbul trying to decide the fate of Syria without the Syrians

Ankara has a real prospect for rapprochement with Damascus in the settlement of the armed conflict, and the decision Interscope issue in particular.

About this in his blog wrote the journalist on international Affairs Abbas Juma, commenting on an International conference on Syria, held in Istanbul.

He stressed that the event was well attended by experts, politicians and journalists. There are calls for the suppression of terrorism, as well as fears that the intensification of the fighting in Idlib will lead to waves of refugees into Turkey.

While Juma drew attention to the fact that the conference is almost no Syrians: “Only one activist from Syria came to speak on behalf of the Baath party and still can’t extricate himself from the web of microphones — journalists literally tearing the poor guy apart.”

“On the other hand, it is possible that the ruling party (AKP) uses the last conference as a platform to begin a rapprochement with Damascus. In any case, a trend emerged. And if that happens, the value of this event is just huge,” he said.
