A citizen of Italy Maurizio Paolo Bianchi, arrested in his country on charges of industrial espionage in the case against the Director of business development “United engine Corporation” (UEC) Russians Alexander Korshunov. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
It is known that Bianchi, like Korshunova, faces up to 10 years in prison. Their alleged crimes were committed in order to develop the Russian PD-14 engine, which theoretically can be used as a major engine for military aircraft and civilian aircraft.
According to investigators, kites had conspired with Bianchi. Previously, he headed the Italian branch of the company GE Aviation, one of the leading suppliers of aircraft engines, subsidiary of General Electric. In particular, the Italian was responsible for business development in Russia and Asia.
Bianchi then moved to the aircraft manufacturing company Aernova, which had a contract with JDC. It is expected that from 2013 to 2018 Bianchi on behalf of Korshunova were hired by GE Aviation for consultations related to internal components of aircraft engines. During the consultations, the employees have used trade secrets GE Aviation for reporting. In the assignment it was stated that the report prepared for the Ministry of industry and trade of Russia.
Korshunova was detained August 30, at the airport of Naples on the basis of the international warrant issued in the United States. On 5 September, the U.S. justice Department said that the Russians are accused of criminal conspiracy.
