Interesting facts about blockchain-TON platform and digital currency Gram from Telegram

The claim of the Commission on securities and exchange Commission (SEC) to the owners of the messenger Telegram and the blockchain platform TON, appeared in open access, revealed many facts that were not previously known.

They are mainly related to the release of the digital currency Gram, but there are those that are related to Telegram messenger and its actual owners – Paul and Nikolai Durov. Here are some of them.

In the spring of 2018 Telegram told the audience of 200 million unique users per month and since then did not share such statistics. Assessment of the SEC, to the present time, the number of monthly active users increased by half, to 300 million people. It is worth considering that this is estimates, not confirmed by administration of the Telegram, and may not correspond to reality.

Company Telegram was attracted to the project for its digital currency 39 investors from the US and sold more than one billion coins, receiving from them $424,5 million SEC considers those deals illegal.

Some investors TON remain in the shadows and unknown.

In total, investors from around the world on the development of blockchain-network TON, cryptocurrency Gram and Telegram messenger attracted $1.7 billion of this amount spent is approximately $218 million, the remaining money is in the reserve of the Telegram. Part of the money went to the personal needs of the owners of the Telegram, provided that agreements with investors. $520 million of the sum of attracted investments will be spent in 2019 – 2021 for the development of Telegram messenger.

Telegram launched an initial coin Gram in order to prevent speculative fluctuations of the exchange rate.

In transactions, the team of Pavel Durov promised investors a yield of 10 – 50-fold.

The recommended price of the coin Gram at the time of launch will be $3.62 million. In the future the rate may change.

First investors Gram can not sell coins directly, it is assumed lockup-period: selling tranches of a maximum of 25% after 3, 6, 12 and 18 months after the launch of the platform. For later investors there is no such restriction.

Marketing TON and Gram at the initial stage was doing Pavel Durov. Who is promoting these projects is unknown.

Pavel and Nikolai Durov intend to get 100 million coins Gram.

To promote Gram users Telegram is planned to give out 250 million coins. It is expected that this will create a liquid market.

Pavel Durov has two nationalities (Russia, Saint Kitts and Nevis), and his brother Nicholas has only Russian citizenship. Both reside in the UAE with a team of developers of Telegram.

The SEC has filed a lawsuit against the Telegram Group and TON Issuer and is trying to ban the sale of Gram to residents of the U.S. and want to invalidate previously committed transaction.

The launch of the platform and a TON of digital currency Gram was to be held until 31 October 2019. A lawsuit from the SEC forced the Telegram and TON to appeal to investors with a proposal: to postpone the start of projects until the end of April 2020 or to return about 77% of the investment. Agreements with investors provide a full waiver of obligations in case of force majeure, which includes injunctions and claims from regulators.
