Ice on the Northern sea route surveillance from satellites

Ice conditions on Northern sea route will be monitored using 12 small satellites, which now provide the Federal space Agency jointly with Rosatom. It is reported TASS with reference to the head of Department of development of the SMP and coastal territories of the state Corporation “Rosatom” maxima of Kolinko.

Devices will become part of a system of satellite monitoring of meteorological and ice situation on the Northern sea route. She will consist of stations of reception and data processing of spacecraft and radio meteorological centres “Toros”, as well as from a single centre of information gathering and communication satellite systems.

Now monitoring of the Arctic zone is through access to space vehicles of various systems, the range of which does not cover the entire area of the Northern sea route and provide information in different formats.

Earlier in the fsbe “Arctic and Antarctic research Institute” reported that the ice area in the Arctic record has declined in recent years. Climate change makes these areas dangerous for navigation.
