The Rambler media Group went to court with the demand to stop the distribution of pirated broadcasts and recover of more than 180 billion rubles with the streaming service Twitch. About it reports “Kommersant”.
The company Rambler Group counted 36 thousand cases of violations of the rights to broadcast matches of the English Premier League soccer team, owned in Russia, and demanded to block Twitch and recover compensation 180,345 billion rubles, said representing the interests of the streaming service in the court of Julianna tabastajewa.
According to her, the requirements are unfair, since the service “only allows user access to the platform and does not publish its content and cannot modify the content posted by users, or monitor possible infringement”
In turn, the head of sports projects of Rambler Group Mikhail Hershkowitz said that “the claim to Twitch the exclusive rights to broadcast matches of the English Premier League”.
“We will continue to actively fight against pirate broadcasts. As for the amount of requirements, it was proposed external lawyer leading the case. The amount is technical possible, it will be clarified,” he explained.
Hershkowitz also said that negotiations with the Twitch on the signing of the settlement agreement.
“The service gave us the tools to deal with pirate broadcasts and now we are talking only about compensation of the damage from August to November,” — said the head of sports projects of the Rambler Group.
The claim to Twitch Interactive will be considered by the Moscow city court on 20 December.
