Vladimir Putin praised the proposal of Vladimir Mashkov in the Constitution a ban on the alienation of Russian territory, including Crimea, the Kuril Islands and the Kaliningrad region.

At a meeting with members of the working group, which deals with draft amendments to the Constitution the head of state noted that endorses the initiative, and appealed to the lawyers to properly formulate this proposal, according to the Russian Dialogue.
At the meeting of the constitutional Commission Mashkov said that while traveling in Russia I heard from some Russians fear that after the departure of Putin as President such areas as the Crimea, the Kuril Islands and the Kaliningrad region, can be transferred to other States.
The Director stressed that any Russian leadership should not even be allowed to conduct such negotiations, and proposed the basic law States the prohibition on alienation of Russian territory.
