The national Board of the USA on Aeronautics and research of space administration (NASA) plans to send a spacecraft Crew Dragon in the first manned flight to the International space station (ISS) until mid-may of this year. The crew included astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley.
To run, which will take place from the spaceport at Cape Canaveral (Florida), the selected launch vehicle, the Falcon 9 SpaceX Elon musk, has informed on its website NASA.
“The upcoming mission will be the return to the United States the ability to make manned space flights and the first launch of American astronauts on Board an American ship since the last expedition of the space Shuttle July 8, 2011. Crew Dragon with astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley on Board will be launched [into orbit] by Falcon 9 rocket of SpaceX, the launch of which will be complex 39A with the space flight Center. Kennedy in Florida. NASA and SpaceX is currently scheduled to start until mid — second half of may,” said the US space Agency.
According to NASA, the flight program provides for the launching, docking with the ISS, returning astronauts to Earth during the landing apparatus. Crew Dragon — a modified version of the cargo ship Dragon, which in 2010 delivers cargo to the ISS. In automatic mode, this ship was sent to the station on 2 March 2019 and docked to it the next day. Crew Dragon is designed for a crew of up to seven people. In the future it is also planned to use as “lifeboats” on the ISS in case of an emergency.
