Of colored plastic bottles are very beautiful and fast garden windmills. The shape of the bottle allows you to create a wide blade that reacts even in the light wind.
- coloured PET bottle;
- bamboo skewer;
- nuts M3-M5 – 2 PCs.;
- washer M3-M5 – 2 PCs.;
- plastic tube or flat stick.
The process of manufacturing windmill
Departing from the bottom of the bottle of 1.5 cm must draw on its walls ring. The same line is marked below the neck in a place where walls become smooth. Another ring is required to draw near the already made lines, departing from them to the center of the bottle 1.5 cm
Next you need to mark the Central part of the bottle with vertical lines to divide it into 8 equal parts. To determine their width, you can measure the circumference of the bottle, and dividing the resulting length by 8.
The generated lines of the rectangles at the bottom and the neck of the bottle need to draw a diagonal, going from top corner to bottom. Then using a sharp knife and scissors is necessary to cut the bottle into strips by vertical lines.
From the bottom of the strips must be bent with a bend inward at the drawn diagonals to form folds. After that, the same bends are made diagonally at the neck.
If you squeeze the bottle to make the bottom and the neck, with a little turn, then bent strip form the blades. Each of them should be fixed, breaking with an office stapler. On one blade is driven by 2 staples.
Next, we need to make holes in the bottom and center the cap under the rotation axis, which you can use a bamboo skewer. The holes should be slightly larger than the diameter axis.
Then it is necessary to fix the axis on the rack. It will fit plastic tube or a smooth stick. In the rack closer to the top is a narrow hole and at a right angle inserted the skewer. Axle put the washer and nut, after which the blade must be mounted to the bottom of the rack.
To lock the blade, the tube also fits over the nut and washer. Then stepping back 1 cm need to trim the skewer. It remains only to stall. On the tip of the axis you have to put a piece of rubber or soft plastic. You can also apply a bit of glue or roll up the axis of the wire. It is important not to clamp the blades so they can rotate freely. After that, the wind turbine can be installed in garden, roof, balcony, or used elsewhere.
