Hello, dear readers and DIY!
Anyone who has their own workshop or garage, well aware that of free space in them so much! Particularly important free working surface of the benches, and quick access to small machines.
Every time to lift and install, for example, grinding machine — the pleasure is something else.
In this article, the author of the YouTube channel “hands of the arms” will tell You how he made a simple folding system, using the principle which can accommodate practically any small machine so that he was upside down under the worktop of a workbench in just a few seconds.
With the homemade manufacture of such a folding system handle even a beginner.
— Door hinges “arrow”, metal chain
— Bolts, nuts, washers, M8 screws for wood.
The tools used by the author.
— Screwdriver, magnetic bits
— Drill bits for wood
— A vise, hammer, Kern, pliers
— An angle grinder, cutting disc
— Vernier caliper, combination angle ruler, pencil.
The process of making.
So, the author quite often uses here is a grinding machine, which seriously cuts down on the free spot on the bench.
The main elements of the folding system will serve two here are the hinges on “arrow”
Cut out of pine boards suitable for the size of the machine base the platform on her two and mark the center line.
Using calipers, the author measures the distance between the mounting holes, and transfer the marks onto the platform.
On the center marks drilled through holes with a diameter of 8 mm.
Lower the platform in the holes made recess under the bolt head with a drill of 10 mm.
The two bolts are simply hammered into place and the head is locked in the hole, not allowing them to rotate.
Now master trial sets the machine on the platform.
Short petal loop is pressed against the underside of the table top and “arrow” is set vertically. On its surface raises the level of the upper edge of the table.
On the marked line, holding the piece in a vise along it, long petal is bent at an angle of 90 degrees.
Now, set the loop to have just such a configuration.
“Arrow-shaped” petals were longer than the platform, and had to be shortened.
Cutting the parts was removed one of the mounting holes. The author re-drill another hole with a drill diameter of 3.5 mm, and removes the chamfer under the countersunk head of a screw.
It remains to tie the loop to the bottom of the platform and countertops.
The machine is mounted on the platform, and fixed nuts.
To fix the platform with the machine in the lower, retracted position, will need a small piece of chain or rope.
One end of the chain is fastened with screws to press the puck to the underside of the workbench.
The screw-spike is screwed into the lower end side of the platform.
Everything is ready, now that the machine is not necessary, just flip it over underneath the bench and hook the chain link over the hook.
Of course, the platform is made from pine boards is not the best solution. Perfect Micarta, or thick sheet of plywood. These materials are less susceptible to damage from vibration.
I thank the author for a simple fixture to save space in the workshop!
All good mood, sound health, and interesting ideas!
