Administrator popular in Belarus Telegram-channel Igor moosie detained on criminal case about the organization of activities that breach public order, said his wife Daria.
Thursday popular in Belarus Telegram-channel “Belarus in the brain”, specializing in socio-political topics and has 168 thousand subscribers, announced that it detained the administrator and the author moosie, in his apartment in Baranovichi (Brest region) was searched. The report noted that moosie detained within the criminal case, however, no indication what it is. It was also noted that the confiscated equipment.
“My husband is currently in Minsk on Akrestin street (in the prison of Minsk – ed.). It is a criminal case under article “organization and preparation of activities that breach public order or active participation in them,” wrote his wife in Instagram.
Previously the charge for this article was also presented to a popular blogger Sergei Tikhanovski, whose wife Svetlana is running for the presidency in the scheduled for August 9 election, and his supporters. The detention took place in late may at a campaign rally in Grodno. The head of the investigative Committee of Belarus Ivan Nosewicz 11 June reported that the number of defendants in actions that violate public order in the pre-election picket, grew to ten and can still change.
On Thursday the head of Ministry of internal Affairs Yury Karaeu reported that illegal street rallies that recently took place in Belarus in the form of “chains of solidarity”, are controlled via Telegram channels and live broadcasts of “Radio Liberty” from the event.
Earlier, in the period of collection of signatures in support of nomination of candidates for election of the President in different cities of Belarus on the electoral pickets were queues of people fighting in support of alternative candidates for the presidency. Authorities said that the pre-election pickets turned into unauthorized rallies. At the end of the period of collection of signatures of people also lined up in the “chain of solidarity” in different cities of the Republic.
The largest actions took place on June 19. In a press-service of the interior Ministry of Belarus, RIA Novosti reported that on Friday at about 270 citizens had been detained in various cities of the country because of violation of order of holding mass actions and disobedience to police officers. According not registered by the authorities human rights center “Viasna”, over 360 people were arrested during the past at the end of last week, protests in Belarus.
