Russia still hopes for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in the Donbass. Simultaneously, the negotiation process with Ukraine is more like a theater of the absurd. This statement was made by Dmitry Kozak, Deputy head of the presidential administration of Russia.
In an interview with the online TASS , Kozak admitted that Moscow did not lose hope for a peaceful settlement of the situation in the Donbass. Simultaneously, the negotiation process with Ukraine is not very smooth, informs LigaNews.
Kozak admitted he had high hopes for talks with Ukraine and was convinced that Moscow and Kiev will be able to discuss all the issues in the Donbass very quickly and efficiently. However, the last meeting in Berlin ended that hope.
In Russia, confident that the administration of the President of Ukraine is ready to go to a constructive dialogue, however, they are prevented to do political opponents. Most interesting is that at the time, these same opponents and were one of the sponsors of the Minsk agreements.
As an example, Kozak remembered the TAG meeting March 11, 2020. Then the three parties managed to agree on the direct dialogue between Kiev and Donbass. However, after a night in the Ukraine, a wave of meetings and the administration of the President of Ukraine backtracked.
According to Kozak, now everything is in the hands of the Ukraine and what she will choose the path of resolving the situation in the Donbass. If Zelensky will fulfill his campaign promise, the conflict will be resolved quickly. If the team Zelensky will continue to tighten negotiating process, the conflict in the region will be frozen for years to come.
