Economic cooperation of Kyrgyzstan with the countries of the Eurasian economic Union is focused primarily on Russia and Kazakhstan.
The main areas of cooperation: gas and petroleum, mining and metallurgical industry, transport, energy, banking and insurance, agriculture and food industry. This is stated in the report “the Main trends of integration of Kyrgyzstan to 2019” prepared by the Centre for integration studies of the Eurasian development Bank (EDB).
Investments along with trade, was an important component of integration development of the Republic in 2019, though, and was distinguished by low rates compared to other EEU members.
Integration development of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan to 2019 was characterised by some increase of foreign trade and considerable increase in the exchange of services. The index of complementarity characterizing the complementarity of the economies of countries that are members of the interstate Association, suggests that Kyrgyzstan has considerable potential in trade with the Russian Federation and Armenia, as well as high compatibility, mainly in the service sector (construction and transport), with the Republic of Belarus and Kazakhstan.
Remittances remain of strategic importance to stimulate consumer and investment demand within the country, as well as to the balance of payments of Kyrgyzstan as a whole, offsetting the substantial trade deficit. Another strategic channel of integration of the Kyrgyz Republic to the EAEC is foreign direct investment.
