Hackers supported by the Russian government, are trying to steal information from researchers and pharmaceutical companies seeking a vaccine against COVID-19, — said UK, USA and Canada.
British national cybersecurity center, believes that the hackers “almost certainly” connected with the Russian special services. Issued by the government statement was made in agreement with the authorities of the United States and Canada.
As reported by the country, the hacker group APT29, also known as Cozy Bear, was targeting academic and research institutions for the development of vaccines against coronavirus. The statement did not indicate which institutions and companies were targeted attacks and was eventually stolen any of the information about vaccines.
“It is totally unacceptable that the Russian intelligence services are targeting those who are struggling with the pandemic coronavirus. — said in a statement Dominic Raab, the Minister of foreign Affairs of great Britain. — While some pursue their own selfish interests, the United Kingdom and its allies work tirelessly to find a vaccine”.
Representatives of the Russian Federation have denied involvement in the cyber attacks.
