Of course, everybody knows that indispensable even in a small home workshop are clamps. There are many varieties. One of the options with a quick-release clamps is the so — called Giverny capture.
Most often, this subtype is used when welding, and is made entirely of metal.
In this article John, the author of the YouTube channel “John Heisz — I Build It”, I’ll tell You how he made this capture of plywood.

The process of making.

Initial, working version of the template looked like this, and the details were not rounded some of the corners.
First, the author, using a printed template glued parts on a sheet of plywood using the adhesive pencil (here we use plywood of wood Baltic birch). Sheet thickness is 0.5 inch.
It is important to mention this detail: all that marked in the drawings with a size of ¼ inch will be cut out of plywood ½ inch (12 mm), and all the details specified thickness is ½ inch, will be made from plywood sheet ¾ inch (18 mm).
Given the thickness of said parts, the clip can get a little thick. But the fact that he will be strong — it is possible to say with certainty.
Using a conventional washer, the author corrects a bit the angles on the contours, giving them a more rounded appearance.
All parts are cut along the contour with a small stock at the bandsaw.
The contours of the second pair of copies of parts transferred to the sheet, and cut on the same machine.
Of course, these works can be performed by using electrical or manual jigsaw, however, additional treatment and adjustment will take more time.
All the paired parts are held together with nails using nailer.
Now the master will handle them on a orbital and belt sander machine, adjusting them to the layout lines.
The inner edge and curves are processed on a drum machine.
The drawings were specified axis of 9.5 mm in diameter. In the real sample, they will be somewhat larger, and are cut from round sticks with a diameter of 11 mm.
After that, cut another pin with a diameter of 9.5 mm, which moves along the slits.
These cuts are made on a milling machine end milling cutter 9.5 mm.
The emphasis of the machine is pasted strip of adhesive tape, labels, which serve as a guideline where to start and where to finish propyl.
In the first passage the author is only half depth, and for the second remaining part.
According to the markings in detail, holes are drilled.
After the holes in the parts propylene, paired parts can be separate with a chisel.

Now you can insert and glue the axis. The dowels are intentionally cut slightly longer than required by design.
The remains of the paper template, clean off the parts with a chisel.
Axis was slightly thicker than necessary, and the details are too tightly connected. So the wizard slightly expands the hole drill bit 11.5 mm.

After pre-Assembly the author rounds remaining sharp corners.
To adjust the width of clamp will need a clamping screw. The author will make it out of here is a steel stud with M10 thread. The stud is cut to length grinder with a diamond blade on metal.
She is later screwed into a small piece of plywood ¾ inch plywood. Its dimensions are determined by the dimensions of the clamp.
In the center of the bar, drill Forstner is a blind hole which has to accommodate the nut M10. The remaining part of the hole, the craftsman drill is 10 mm.
Unfortunately the bar was split in two. But it is fixable. Two-component epoxy and nailer to help.
The same epoxy resin, the master secures the nut placed in the unit.
And sticks the nut, which was screwed to the steel stud. This nut goes on the end.
Epoxy adhesive polymerizes within the hour.
Now the plywood block is worn down to the desired size.
For ease of handling in the block screwed steel stud. It is possible to see sparks from a nail, fastening the block. It should score closer to the nut.
You can now begin to assemble the clamp.
That way the screw will act on the swivel part, slide it along the groove.
One side panel of the handle with a groove is attached to the neck of the fixed jaw, and fixed neylerem.
Next to your seat is glued in the block with the nut and clamping screw. This detail at the time of bonding the master locks the spring clips.
Between the two parts of the lever is mounted movable jaw, and a hinge.
In the tail part of the lever is glued to a small insert.
This part is also enhanced by studs, and is fixed in a Vice while gluing.
After the glue dries the excess paste cut off, and the shank of the lever is polished.
The remaining hinge pin and movable jaw are inserted in the second clamp part, and then glued the last side of the arm.
While bonding occurs, the author periodically driven by a second sponge so you don’t accidentally stuck to the moving parts of the mechanism.
Assembled instrument should be left overnight for complete drying. But before the author glued to the second end of the clamping screw that is such a small round pen.
The next day there is a testing tool.

Now running final sanding of all surfaces.

All friction elements are lubricated with paraffin.
