Paleontologists from Southamptonshire University discovered a new species of dinosaur that lived on Earth 115 million years ago and belonged to the same family as the tyrannosaurs, transfers TV channel Sky news.
It is reported that by the end of four bones found in the British Isle of Wight last year, scientists came to the conclusion that they belong to previously unknown science the dinosaur. According to the findings of paleontologists, this species lived on earth in the Cretaceous period and belongs to the family Terpugova, which includes Tyrannosaurus and its length can reach 4 meters. New species scientists have named Vectaerovenator inopinatus.
“Data Terpugova dinosaurs in Europe during the mid-Cretaceous is not so much, so it’s really interesting to have the opportunity to expand our understanding of the species diversity of the dinosaurs of this era,” said postgraduate student of the University, leading the research, Chris Barker, quoted by Sky news.
As reminds TV channel, in 2019 on the Isle of Wight was discovered four bones of the neck, back and tail of a dinosaur. Later examination showed that the fossils probably belong to the same dinosaur that could live to the North of the coast of the Isle of Wight.
