Greetings to all lovers of craftsmanship, I propose to consider the instructions for making a simple card for a child from a self-propelled lawn mower. Homemade turned out to be interesting, this is a full-fledged car with a gasoline engine. In the alteration, the homemade product is not difficult, and the child will have no limit of joy. The process of making homemade products:
Step one. Increasing the speed of the lawn mower
The author found the lawn mower an old one, but after thorough cleaning of the carburetor it was possible to start it.
We remove the knife, instead of it we need to install a large bicycle sprocket, the author turned a flange under it on a lathe.
We also weld an asterisk to the axis of the lawn mower gearbox, only a small one, with a ratchet mechanism. Thanks to the new gear ratio, the mower can now go much faster than before.
To keep the chain constantly tightened, the author made the tensioner from a piece of thick-walled polyethylene pipe.
Step two. Rear wheels
We remove the native rubber from the rear wheels, fasten the wheels for the karts to the resulting discs using screws and nuts. That's all, now the new wheels can be installed on the axle, now everything looks like a racing car, and the track width has become larger, which will have a positive effect on stability. Everything is done well, the rear axle can support the author's weight.
Step three. Front wheel hubs and steering knuckles
We make new hubs for the front wheels, the author cut them out of steel plates by welding the bearings. The new hubs can be screwed onto the kart wheels.
The steering knuckles were made of thick steel plates, the author bent them on a bending machine, and used bolts and nuts as axles. The finished knuckles with hubs can be installed on the lawnmower, now the wheels can already turn.
Step four. Steering
We make the steering shaft from a piece of a round pipe, the author welded the steering wheel from a square pipe, it looks quite interesting. We make and connect the rods and now our car is already controllable.
Step five. Sitting
The author made a simple wooden seat. For fastening, fasteners were made of steel plates. Of course, if you wish, the seats can be covered with foam rubber, they will be soft.
Step six. Exhaust and pedals
Of course, you can tell a lot about the car by its muffler. The author decided to make a simple muffler from a piece of pipe and brought it out to the rear, so that no smoke from the engine would go into the child's face.
Pedals were also made and installed. There are two cables in total, one cable is connected to the engine carburetor, and the other cable goes to the gearbox, it turns on the drive, a kind of “clutch”, like in a real car.
Of course, in an emergency it would be nice to make an ignition switch. < br> Step seventh. Painting and testing
We paint homemade products, assemble and test. The author puts on a helmet on the child and fastens it to the chair with a belt. Of course, using a belt in this case may not be very useful and even dangerous.
You can drive, the karts accelerate well, although the driving speed is not high, but enough for the child. The only thing left in question is the presence of brakes. Probably, the homemade product almost doesn’t run on the coast, so the car decided not to make them.
