And so about the project itself. As mentioned earlier, this time the author decided to reproduce the whole process himself. Having space, equipment, knowledge, and most importantly experience, working on machines is not safe. He brought in cedar for the hull, American black walnut for reinforcing the sides and seats, and regular walnut and maple for the patterned stripes.

The master first began to prepare cedar lamellas. To do this, I scribbled one side of the lumber on a jointer to get an even base and calibrated it in a thickness gauge.

In the kettle, the water boils, the escaping steam moistens the wood, it becomes flexible and does not break. After a while, the lamellas were attached to the template.

Using the thickness gauge again, I calibrated the bars in size and relieved the tension in the bars with a hand router on the conductor. This will help to better repeat the bends in the upper part of the beads.

He finished the final coating of the canoe with marine varnish with UV inhibitors, epoxy is prone to degradation under UV light, so several coats of marine varnish must be applied, and to protect the boat, its hull must be treated every 5 years
