Social network Facebook is planning to integrate their platforms for the exchange of messages in one service.
WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram will remain separate applications, but their hidden infrastructure will be one. This may have an impact on billions of people that use these programs exchange messages. For example, it may allow the company to create a unified user profile from their various applications for more precise ad targeting. Applications can also obtain end-to-end encryption, which protects messages from unauthorized reading.
Facebook estimates that 2.6 billion people every month use Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram or Messenger. In addition, an average of more than 2 billion people daily use at least one of these applications is owned by Facebook.
