The Prime Minister of Macedonia Zoran Zaev, congratulated his Greek counterpart Alexis Tsipras Berezanskogo ratification of the agreement.
On Friday, January 25, the Greek Parliament approved the Treaty of Athens and Skopje, providing for the renaming of the former Yugoslav Republic. “Macedonia will become the Republic of North Macedonia about two weeks”, — told the Agency France-Presse anonymous source in the Macedonian foreign Ministry on Saturday, January 26.
Prespansko the agreement was signed in the summer of 2018 heads of ministries of foreign Affairs of Greece and Macedonia. After the name change the state will allow the Macedonians to negotiate accession to the EU. The agreement also cancels Greece’s veto on Macedonia’s accession to NATO.
Zaev called the ratification “vote in favor of future victories” as “the inhabitants of both countries” and that “even those who were against the agreement will benefit from the coming prosperity, peace and friendship.” The words of the Macedonian Prime Minister leads AFP.
We also know that the U.S. Senator from Connecticut Chris Murphy welcomed the ratification of the Treaty. In his Twitter he called Zoran zaeva and Alexis Tsipras of “strong rulers” and noted that they are worthy of the Nobel peace prize.
