When making various homemade products, for example, for deep oil impregnation of wood, working with cast epoxy resins, a vacuum chamber is often required.
In this article, the author of the YouTube channel “Damir Z” will tell you how you can make a small vacuum chamber for your home or workshop.
This project is quite simple to manufacture, does not require turning or welding, and can be repeated in home conditions.
Materials required for homemade products.

Manufacturing process .
So, the heart of the vacuum chamber will be the compressor from the refrigerator.
This model has three connections. One of them is pressed in, and this is the filler pipe. Of the remaining two, you need to determine the suction inlet. The easiest way to do this is to turn on the compressor and hold a piece of paper to the tube.
The shock-absorbing rubber bands must be left in their places.
The basis for the entire device will be thick sheet plywood suitable size. The compressor is placed on the base, and the centers of the holes for the mounting bolts are marked.
Drilled into plywood four holes according to the marking. Bolts are threaded from the bottom side, and the compressor is fixed with nuts.
A quick connector is attached to the high pressure hose on one side. The other end of the hose is fixed to the suction pipe with a metal clamp.
A filler pipe is desirable protect with a piece of rubber tube, because its end can be quite sharp.
The vacuum line will be connected to the chamber through this transition with two ball valves.
It is important to know and control the pressure in the chamber, for which a vacuum gauge will serve.
A transparent acrylic plate 300 × 300 mm, and at least 10 mm thick, will serve as a cover for the camera. < br> All connections carefully are sealed with FUM tape or anaerobic glue (thread lock).
The adapter is screwed to the tee first.
Ball valves are connected to the side branches.
A quick-release fitting is connected to one of the valves.
The second valve is designed to let air into the chamber. You will need to open it to remove the cover.
Last (as the most fragile element) a vacuum gauge is attached.
Now a through hole for the adapter is drilled in the acrylic plate-cover.
The corresponding adapter is cut into the hole thread (in this case ¼ inch) with a tap.
The protective film is removed around the hole from the acrylic plate. Anaerobic glue is applied to the threads and the adapter is screwed into place.
The rest of the protective film is removed last. It is extremely important not to scratch the surfaces, because this can not only break the tightness of the connection with the camera, but also (with a deep and long scratch) lead to destruction of the plate during evacuation.
Such a pressure cooker will serve as a camera. It is preferred that it is made of thick walled stainless steel rather than aluminum. Such a container can withstand not only the increased pressure inside, generated by steam, but also a deep vacuum.
Remove the rubber band from the lid and put it on the edge of the pan.

To make the apparatus a one-piece structure, the master attaches to the base several triangular limiters made of boards that will prevent the camera from moving to the side.
Blind holes with a diameter of 8 mm are drilled in the lower part of the limiters.
To accurately transfer centers on the base, the author inserted spike center detectors into the holes, and pressed the parts to the base.
Then you can drill holes.
Details are connected with base with dowels and wood glue.
Everything is ready, after the glue dries, you can put the pan in its place and cover with a lid.
The drain valve is closed, and the second one opens. Now you can pump out the air from the chamber.
It will not work to separate the lid from the chamber when there is a vacuum in it. Holding on to the cover, you can easily lift the entire unit.
To open it , you need to let air in by opening the valve.
To test the effect, the author places a glass of water inside the camera. In just a few seconds, the water boils. The pressure is only -0.5 bar.
Minimum pressure, which manages to get -0.95 bar.
For easy portability you can screw the furniture handles to the base.
You should also install separate switch, and fix the cable on the base with clips.
