About model aircraft – push propeller trainer, say a word
I am glad to meet you again, dear model aircraft designers. Hello!
Today I want to talk about aircraft models – trainers and show how to build the simplest trainer, on which I, in my time, learned to comprehend the science of operating model aircraft.
The dream of every novice model aircraft maker is to build an “indestructible” aircraft model, and if it crashed, that would not be a pity!
On the website of the Belarusian aircraft modellers, I found a similar version of such a trainer with rather detailed photos of the process of creating a model.
Personally, I prefer to build models from a substrate, which allows you to cut large blanks of the model's structural parts without butt gluing. The size of the substrate 1000 x 500 x 5 mm allows you to do this.
For the strength of the structure, you can use wooden laths, preferably pine, or you can use wooden, student rulers.
You can glue the parts with any glue suitable for gluing foam products.
I use a moisture resistant, universal glue “Titan” or “KIN”.
The author uses the simplest version of the fuselage.
The dimensions of the model depend on the motor and propeller at your disposal. The author's wingspan is planned at 1 m.
Blanks are cut out and wooden laths are glued.
Partitions – frames are glued between the two vertical side walls of the fuselage.
We make the nose of the fuselage, which will act as a cover for the battery compartment.
The author suggested fixing the cover with a magnetic latch. You can simplify the option and fix it (lid) with transparent tape. This is not essential, you can think of any other option.
Sometimes novice aircraft modellers have a question, where is it better to strengthen the motor? Above the wing or below?
The figure clearly demonstrates where the motor should be!
3 mm thick plywood is glued to the bottom of the fuselage for fixing the landing gear.
Assembled the nose of the fuselage.
You can carry out design work on the design of the model.
The rear wheel strut made of 2.5 mm diameter wire is glued into a lime block and glued into the fuselage.
A motor frame is made from an aluminum strip, 2.5 mm thick, the motor is attached and mounted on the model.
I would like to draw your attention to the inserted piece of aluminum wire into the drilled holes of the plywood reinforcement of the fuselage. On the protruding pins, a removable wing is attached.
The author added an inscription on the fuselage.
The author suggests just such a chassis design.
The model got up on its “feet”.
The author offers this option for mounting a video camera.
Keel and stabilizer blanks are reinforced with wooden slats.
The finished tail unit is glued into the fuselage
The most important thing when mounting the tail assembly is the verticality of the installation.
Placement of electronics inside the fuselage. Traction connection.
When determining the CG (center of gravity), there was not enough space, it was necessary to add a load in the forward fuselage. So, when making your model, take into account the author's mistake and add a few centimeters by increasing the length of the nose of the fuselage.
Prepare the bottom surface for the wing. We remove chamfers on the edges at the front and back, and glue them in two or in parts, if it is a ceiling. It all depends on the size of your model. The lower, outer surface can be covered with tape.
We glue the spar along the entire length of the wing.
Template for making ribs is cut from a strip of aluminum or cardboard or plywood. Finished ribs are glued into place.
When the glue dries, we mount the upper wing skin.
Ready wing
Trying on the wing on the fuselage.
Can be covered with colored tape.
We hang the ailerons
The author continues to design the model.
Weight is within normal limits.
The model is ready. It remains to glue the boar servos and connect the rods on the wing.
That is, perhaps, all that can be said about creating a trainer.
Such a model was made by a beautiful aircraft model together with the author.
See how this model aircraft flies.
On this I say goodbye to you, I wish you successful model construction, beautiful flights and soft landings. Film Good health to all, goodbye. Yours Valerian Samodelkin.
