Meetings in the framework of the public campaign “Russia — not a dump!” were held on Sunday, 3 February in many cities of Russia.
According to the Russian media, managed to coordinate events at least forty settlements located in 27 regions of the country. Their residents have opposed government policies in the field of waste, building of incinerators and landfills in dangerous proximity with settlements, higher prices for garbage removal. Did not remain without attention and environmental issues, which were its own specifics in each region.
According to 14 o’clock Paris time, most people came to the rally in Severodvinsk — about 9 thousand people. Such data leads portal MBH media. Also were active protesters in the Arkhangelsk region.
One of the organizers of the rally in Arkhangelsk Dmitry Semushin told RFI about what was demanded by the residents of the city.
Dmitry Semushin: “As such, constant coordination was not. We only gave advice, consultation, notification to the administration. But each region were completely independent in their actions”.
According to Semushina, a single focal point at the all-Russian protest was not.
Dmitry Semushin: “the Main requirement in the Arkhangelsk region — the import ban Moscow of garbage and General debris from other regions to the territory of the Arkhangelsk region, the immediate cessation of the construction of the illegal object in the vicinity of the station Sees (they built a facility for the processing and disposal of garbage RFI) waste, the resignation of the Governor of the Orlov and the introduction of separate collection and sorting of garbage.”
In some cities, whose residents wanted to organize a meeting, to negotiate with the government failed. For example, it happened in Novosibirsk and Kolomna. Moscow also banned the campaign, however, the head of the municipal district Taganskaya Ilya Sviridov proposed to hold the event in the format of a meeting of citizens in the assigned district.
2 December 2018 in some regions is already held similar protests. The protesters demanded to start the separate collection of waste, to stop transportation of waste in the capital and the regions and not to build new landfills. Local protests went unheeded, the campaign grew to a national scale. As told Dmitry Semushin, at the rally in Arkhangelsk on February 3 people was much more than the 2 of December last year. But the authorities were not.
Dmitry Semushin: “No, representatives of the administration at the rally was not and is never. They are not going to dialogue with people.”
