It is quite simple to make a tool, and the use of a lathe by a master, which not everyone has, just simplifies the work, but you can do without it.

This tool is designed for 8 mm rivets. You will have to change some dimensions if you want to use a different size bolt or rivet.
To make a sleeve, you need a circle with a length of 30 mm and a diameter of 19 mm. To process the workpiece, the master uses a lathe, and all actions are described taking into account the presence of the machine (although it is not required).
Install the workpiece in the lathe.

Step two: machining the bolt

In this operation, it will be necessary to process the end of the bolt to a diameter of 8 mm and a length equal to the rivet nut. Make sure the bolt and nut are tightened very tightly in the lathe chuck as the threads tend to twist when machining.
Mark the length with a marker first.
Screw the nut onto the bolt and fit into the lathe chuck.
Install the lathe 8 mm.
Remember to set the tool to the correct height and use only the tip of the cutter.
Grind down the end of the bolt to a diameter of 8 mm.

As a last resort, you can even cut off a part of the 8 mm thread from the bot and weld it to a thick bolt.
Another option is to drill a hole in the bolt and cut an 8 mm thread. Then you can screw the pin into the hole.
Step three: handle
The handle can be made from any suitable material. The master chose a reinforcement with a diameter of 12 mm.
Next, you need to clean the sleeve and weld to the handle.

The tool is ready and now you can test it. To do this, we drill a hole with a diameter of 11 mm (the outer diameter of the rivet) in the metal sheet. We install the bolt into the bushing so that the 8 mm thread comes out of the hole not fully drilled with a 12 mm drill. We screw a rivet onto the thread. Install the rivet into the hole in the metal. Tighten the bolt using two open-end wrenches. The rivet will squash and press against the sheet of metal.
