What interesting ideas do not come to mind when a burnt-out “Bulgarian” catches the eye. The flight of fantasy has no boundaries. If you create a page on the use of this corrupted tool, there would be a great many views. I will not list the options, everyone can find them on the Internet. I want to consider what interested me, the use of it as a donor for the manufacture of a differential. Differential is a mechanical unit that is used in three, four wheeled vehicles. He is responsible for ensuring that when turning, the wheels on the same axle can have different mileage. If this is not the case, then the wheel moving in a small radius will have slipping, which leads to rapid tire wear.
Of course, you can get by with the transfer of motion to one wheel, but this is more the exception than the rule.
Many people use industrial differentials for their projects, for example, from cars, shortening the axle shafts. But if a light project is being made, for which even a differential from a Zaporozhets is like an elephant for a Pug, then the option proposed by the author is a good way out.
What he suggests, this does not mean that this is an object for repetition, it is just an idea that everyone can modify and strengthen for themselves. And of course, you shouldn't neglect safety precautions, as the author does, it is so convenient for him, but it is traumatic.
The foreman, before proceeding with the assembly, chose two gearboxes from non-working “grinders”, which had minor wear on the gears. From the anchors I cut off the part where the bearing and the small gear are installed, this will serve as a satellite.
The gears on the shaft sit on dowels, so they do not scroll, and so that they do not fall out, the author reinforced them with tacks.
Large gears of reducers will perform the role of half-axles. The author made a preliminary assembly using M-6 bolts, 60 mm long and nuts.
The nuts set a gap that allows the satellites to be installed. They should rotate freely and at the same time not fall inside.
To fix the satellites, a housing is required for their bearings, therefore, using a “grinder”, a seat is cut out of the gearbox housing. The bearings of the satellites are put into the resulting yoke, with the help of bolts and a welding machine, the location is fixed.
< a href = "https://usamodelkina.ru/uploads/posts/2021-04/1617379278_16.jpg" rel = "prettyPhoto"> The inspection showed that the welding did not deform anything, the rotation is easy and you can continue. Having welded the bolts thoroughly, the yoke tightened with nuts.
Having finished this operation , you can grab the second yoke, all the steps are repeated.
After another rotation check, the author cut off the protruding bolts and scalded the nut connections
This is how this miniature non-separable structure looks like, it was made by our man, arc welding, a triple electrode. -)
It remains to introduce the driven sprocket of the main gear into the resulting bolted body. And then there is nothing new, I put two bolts through the finished holes, pulled them off with nuts and welded everything together.
Having assembled a homemade, lightweight stand, the author checked the performance of the differential, with an electric drill, using a chain drive, transferring the rotation of the wheel. As we can see, two wheels rotate, the virtual object must move in a straight line. When turning, one wheel slows down, and the other continues to move. This action will continue until the turn ends. Once it ends, both wheels will start spinning the same way.
Fitted into bearings pins, put on large gears from the gearbox “grinder” and scalded them with an electrode. Using nuts, the author distributed the bearings on the stud and cut out a jacket for them from the profile pipe, so we got two half-shafts.
The axle shafts themselves, from the side of the large gears, must connect small gears, satellites. The bearings of which are installed in metal frames welded from a corner, are covered from above with channels that tie everything together in a durable case.
The driven sprocket is threaded through the axle shaft and welded to the body.
The axle shafts themselves are fixed with a frame. At the end of the welding work, it turned out, albeit not very neat, but a miniature bridge with a working differential.
