Hello, dear readers and DIY!
When working with sheet carpentry materials, sometimes you have to cut along an arc or a circle.
In this article, the author of the YouTube channel “JSK-koubou” will tell you how he made a circular attachment for an electric jigsaw .
This homemade product is very easy to manufacture, and can be repeated in a few minutes.
Materials required for homemade products.
– Plywood scraps
– Steel wire or nail, wood screws
– Epoxy glue, sandpaper
– Electric jigsaw blades.
Tools used by the author.
– Electric jigsaw
– Screwdriver, drilling machine
– Marking thickness gauge, ruler, pencil.
So, the circulating attachment will be based on a standard side (parallel) jigsaw stop. In order not to limit the functionality of this device, namely to expand it, the author cut out a long rectangular piece from plywood. It will serve as an elongated thrust pad and an anchor for the center pin.

Using < u> planer , marks the cut-out for the guide.
Having fixed the workpiece on the workbench with a clamp, using a jigsaw, a groove is formed in several passes. Each time the blade is only slightly shifted to the side.
The excess strip is cut so that the shoulders on both sides of the groove are the same.
The thrust platform is clamped in a machine vice with the edge cut up. A 3 mm blind hole is drilled next to the groove.
Having inserted the parallel stop into the sole of the jigsaw “upside down”, the author attaches the plate to it. This operation is performed on a flat surface with the blade pulled out of the jigsaw. So the planes of the sole and the lower edge of the thrust plate will be aligned with each other.

Now the stop is removed together with the plate. An axial pin must be glued into the prepared hole, which will be the center of the circle described by the canvas. It is better to take a piece of a broken drill as a pin.
The pin is glued into the hole with two-component epoxy adhesive . < br> After driving the pin, the excess glue that has come out must be removed.
use narrow blades and set the pendulum control to the zero position (switch off).
A central hole for the pin is drilled in the workpiece, and a hole for the entry of the jigsaw blade, if the line does not go over the edge of the part.
Of course, the end of the pin can be sharpened by forming a short tapered point (only slightly protruding above the edge), then you can not drill the central hole in the workpiece, but simply press the stop firmly against the part.
By inserting the blade and the spike into the holes, you can make a circular cut. In this position, most of the workpiece rests on the surface of the workbench, and you need to rotate it when cutting.
Here's a disc turned out.
If you set the stop to its original position, then it can be used as usual. A longer platform will provide a smoother cut.
Thank the author for the simple but useful circular attachment for the electric jigsaw .
