Greetings to all lovers of homemade products and those who just looked at the site in search of something interesting and useful in the household and everyday life. If you have a summer cottage or your own house with a plot, and you like to get together in a noisy company in the fresh air to take a break from the bustle of the city, then this idea may come in handy. In the article below, as you may have guessed from the title, we will focus on building an outdoor oven. Such designs are also called “Pompeian”. By the way, recently they are gaining popularity among summer residents, since in addition to their main purpose (cooking various dishes), they can serve as an excellent decoration for a recreation area or a site as a whole. The author of this design, together with his family, loves pizza, and this prompted him to build. His children helped him in the construction, from this we can conclude that this is an interesting and exciting process.
From the materials, the author needed bricks (ordinary and refractory), cement for mortar (the foundation-base required 6 bags of 40 kg each). He also had reinforced concrete lintels, they also went into use. You will see everything in the process.
First of all, the author and his assistants prepared a construction site. Its size is 1.5 x 1.5 m. The soil layer was removed to a depth of about 6 cm. Everything was leveled properly. Then the formwork was mounted from boards measuring 142 x 137 cm (142 cm is the width of the furnace).

After preparing the site, you can start concreting the base (foundation). To prepare the required amount of mortar, he needed two bags of cement. Fill the foundation and leave it for at least 24 hours, or better for 3 days.

The foundation has hardened properly and gained sufficient strength, you can begin to remove the supporting walls. Two walls of 9 rows in two bricks were laid out of ordinary bricks. In total, 118 whole bricks and 22 halves were used. Then the author laid out another row, but in one brick along the outer perimeter. The same reinforced concrete lintels that I wrote about at the beginning will be laid in the formed grooves.

Here we see how the author installed the jumpers, it took 13 pieces in total. The result is a fairly solid floor slab. He leveled it with a perlite mixture and continued to remove the brazier dome on it. Three rows were folded on each side.

At this step, he begins to lay out the brazier, he uses a face brick, which, according to him, was fired at a temperature of 1200 degrees and must withstand the temperature in the brazier. You can also use refractory bricks. It uses cement mortar for masonry, joints between bricks are 5 mm. Also at this stage begins the formation of the vault. It starts from the back wall. To keep everything smooth, he made a template of the required size from plywood.

At this stage, it can be seen that the template is doubled, it is like a formwork, and the brazier arches continue to be removed along it. The distance between the parts of the template is 20 cm. So far, the author uses only front brick.
< a href = "https://usamodelkina.ru/uploads/posts/2021-04/1618582152_22.jpg" rel = "prettyPhoto"> < a href = "https://usamodelkina.ru/uploads/posts/2021-04/1618582154_24.jpg" rel = "prettyPhoto">
Gradually moving the template-formwork, he brought out the four arches of the vault of the brazier. Do not forget to allow the mortar to harden between the bricks. After building up the strength of the masonry, I proceeded to the external facing of the dome with ordinary bricks.

After the exterior cladding, the author proceeded to remove the doorway. Its inner part is also lined with facing bricks. As in the case of the brazier, a template was also prepared for the door arch, and the required amount of brick was calculated from it. The size of the doorway is 50 cm wide and 27 cm long.
At this stage, the author decided to finish inside the brazier, since when the opening is made and the chimney is removed, it will be difficult to get inside the brazier. The auto covered the bottom of the brazier with dry plaster, and filled the area under the doorway with a screed. I decided to lay the floor of the brazier with floor tiles, since I could not find other heat-resistant materials. Looking ahead, I will say that this is not worth doing. Below you will see why.

After the completion of the interior decoration, he continued to lay out the doorway and brought out the chimney pipe from it. According to the author, the higher the chimney, the better the draft, so bring the chimney to the highest possible height, but do not overdo it.

At this stage, the author, together with his assistants, took up the exterior decoration of the dome. First, a layer of perlite plaster was applied. Then sweep a layer of ordinary plaster and then on it decorative elements, pebbles (pebbles) and tiles.
And so everything is ready, you can proceed to the tests. The author lit a fire in the brazier, in some places small cracks appeared on the walls, but this is not the worst thing. The tiles inside the brazier broke down and cracked.
As a result, the author had to replace it with a heat-resistant one. Otherwise, everything is fine, the oven passed all the tests.
