The author of the Dobry Master YouTube channel was rather skeptical about the idea of making a sandblasting camera with his own hands, until he tried a similar device in the work of his friend. After that, it was immediately decided to manufacture such a device.
At first glance, it may seem that the design is very simple, but this is far from the case. Making a homemade sandblasting chamber took a lot of time from the master.
The main material for manufacturing will be sheet metal with a thickness of 1.5 mm. The body will be all-welded, since part of the metal has already been found by the author at the metal reception almost in the required size. All that remains is to cut the metal for the sand bin.
As usual, everything is done without any drawings and, accordingly, no preliminary calculations were made. We mark and cut off the necessary elements of the bunker.
On the one hand, there are no problems. We take the length of the base, mark the depth and exactly in the middle the length of the top. With the second, it's not so simple. To make our puzzle come together, we also mark the length of the base, divide it in half and here we mark our peak. Then from these points we raise two perpendicular lines. Well, further, from the edges of the base, we are looking for points of intersection with perpendicular lines according to the size of the slope of the first part.
At this stage, you can start assembling and boil our puzzle. The total length of the welding seam in the manufacture of the sandblasting chamber was more than 11 meters.
Of course, the length of the seam can be shortened at least three times if you use a solid sheet and bend the camera body out of it. But the author, as mentioned earlier, had already cut pieces of metal in stock and in the end we have what we have. On the other hand, invaluable experience was gained in welding thin metal.
After welding, as usual, welding seams are processed.
Now we will weld a thread with a plug into the lower part of the hopper to replace sand in the future. In the specialized shops of the city, the master managed to find only such a pair, so we will make a cork from the coupling.
In principle, there is nothing difficult in such a revision, we just weld the bottom and process the part on a lathe. To begin with, let's refine the pair itself a little, and then process the welded bottom. Well, let's make a knurling for convenience.
Now let's get to the bottom. It will be made of a 20 x 40 mm profile pipe. We will make the legs from a pipe 40 by 60 mm. We will cut the workpieces to size on a band saw. This can also be done with an ordinary grinder, but since this machine is available in the author's workshop, it is stupid not to use it.
Next, we weld the base parts into a single structure.
At this stage, we are trying on the bunker and, if all is well, we can weld it into the base.
On the sides of the chamber we will make a frame from the same 20×40 pipe. It will add additional rigidity to the entire structure and will serve as a door frame. We assemble one side, and then using it as a template we weld the second.
We do the same with the doors.
Then, using a flat pipe, install the frame in its place and weld it.
The turn came to the plating. Since there was not enough metal scrap from the metal reception for the doors, I had to cut it out of a large sheet. We remove all cutting burrs from the metal and mount the cladding in its place.
Boil the doors and you can install them in their place.
Here it is important not to forget to make a gap between the door so that in the future you can stick the seal. The author, of course, forgot this and then altered it. But, as they say, only the one who sits on the couch is not mistaken.
At this stage, we will cut out a place for the viewing window into the camera.
We do not discard this cut-out piece of metal, it will still be useful to us in the future, but for now we will deal with the ventilation of the chamber and make an air duct. We mark and prepare the pattern for bending. Bending the desired shape in this case will help a homemade segmental bending machine.
For the tightness of the structure, the corners must be boiled and processed. We will fasten the air duct with rivets. You need to drill holes for them.
Next, you need to make a ventilation hole. Just drilling a large hole is somehow not interesting, so we will make several holes of a smaller diameter. Agree, it looks much prettier:
Now you can mount the duct in its place, orienting it to the center of the chamber. To glaze the cockpit, we need these corners.
The author made them on the same homemade listogib, and the same metal cut out earlier served as the material.
From the resulting blanks we will make a frame for glass and immediately install it in its place. It will be fastened with thumbscrews, and on the reverse side we will simply weld on the M5 nuts.

It is required to connect the vacuum cleaner. This sleeve is inserted into the wall of the chamber and will be pressed by the filter.
In this case, the master decided to use an oil filter from a KAMAZ car. This is how it all will look assembled.
And the last thing left to make from sheet metal is the so-called junction box. All wires will be switched in it, and a pair of switches will be installed to turn on the light in the cabin and turn on the dust removal.
The box will be installed on top, fix it on the m3 screws.
On the front side there will be a pair of illuminated switches. On the reverse side, we will make a couple of holes for the input of the power cable and the output of the wire for the ventilation outlet.
Let's install the lighting lamps in their place, and make a wire lead to the junction box.
To work in such a camera, you will need thick rubber gloves.
To fasten the gloves, the author bought a couple of flanges in the store and for them you need to make a couple of holes and an angle grinder will help us with this.
Moving towards completion, there are literally a couple of little things left. The first is to make a hole for the outlet of the pneumatic hose. We will use the factory version as a pistol.
Finally, everything is ready for painting. The outside of the camera will be painted in two colors, hammer blue and black. Well, we'll just prime the camera inside. Yes, this is literally before the first work, but you want to try a new tool, created by yourself, right now.
Next build. The electrical circuit here is primitive, but the camera must be grounded. This is for safety.

For the test, install the camera in its place and connect it. This Soviet hatchet will be used as a test subject:
