Surely when you say “incubator”, many of you imagine a technically complex device of rather large dimensions. However, it is not always necessary to raise a large number of birds, for some, a dozen chicks are enough.
In this article, the author of the YouTube channel “Imaginative Guy” will tell you how to make a very simple model of an incubator for “incubating” about a dozen chicks.
This project is really easy to make, and easy to repeat in a home workshop.
Materials needed for DIY.
– Digital thermostat
– Heating cable
– Power supplies 12V 5A
– Large balloon , plastic bottle
– Coconut mat, wicker basket
– Glue-filled heat shrink tubing, solid aluminum wire
– Flexible silicone wire, plastic cable ties, rubber bands.

For successful “incubation” only two points are required – a stable temperature, and periodic turning of the masonry. If you turn it over by hand, then the design of the incubator is greatly simplified.
The first step is to make a water heater. The reservoir will be a large balloon (36 inches) .
To make it convenient to fill the ball with water, as well as to fill the heater and temperature sensor inside the container, you will need to cut off the neck from the plastic bottle.
Sharp the edges should be slightly melted with a lighter.
The skirt of the neck is tucked into the balloon.
The connection is tightly rewound with a rubber band. For reliability, you can additionally grab it with a pair of cable ties.

In this case, the resistance per meter is 1.8 Ohm, and the required power is 40W. As a result, you need to cut off 200 cm of the cable.

For more tightness, the author applies a few drops of glue to the edges of the tube.

Use a soldering iron or a hot nail to melt a hole in the lid.

The sensor is attached to the wires with cable ties. The tails of the ties should not only be bitten, but also slightly melt the cut points, otherwise the ball may burst.

All three wires are twisted outside into a bundle.

It is important to fill the container so that there is no air bubble, otherwise the heating cable may overheat locally and burn out (it can also burst the ball).
To prevent bacteria and algae from multiplying inside, it is better to add a little alcohol to the water.
The craftsman prefers to use coconut fiber mat . He soaks it in water and loosens it into fibers.
The resulting coconut fiber is dried and the filler is ready.
A small wicker basket is filled with fiber, and the main parts of the incubator are ready.
