One of the most common tools even among novice carpenters is a hand circular saw.
The main task of this tool is a straight cut in a variety of wooden sheet materials.
When cutting parts for furniture, boards and timber, most often there is a cut at right angles to the edge. If it is carried out only by marking, the accuracy will be low, and the edge will have curvatures and irregularities.
In this case, a variety of guides are used for circular saws and electric jigsaws, for example, a board with an even edge, a rule, or a level. However, in this way it is difficult and unsafe to cut timber and small boards, in addition, each time you will have to mark and fix the guide (taking into account the distance of the saw blade from the sole) on the workpiece.
In this article, the author of the YouTube channel “Master Sh” will tell How can you make a guide for a 90-degree cut with a circular saw. Also, this design is suitable for an electric jigsaw.
Materials necessary for home-made.
– Wooden bar 20 × 30 mm
– Bolt m10 with a semicircular head and a square head, washers, wood screws
– Bakelite wing nuts
– Wood glue, sandpaper, linseed oil.

So, the main material for this project will be a wooden bar with a section of 20 × 30 mm.
First, the master cuts out the first rail from it for a guide rail with a length of 500 mm. An ordinary hacksaw is enough here.
The length of the guide should be selected based on the size of the materials you are processing.
Both guides must be the same length, so the first part is used as a template.
A 70 mm long jumper should be cut from the trimming of the same timber. The length of the bridge depends on the diameter of the clamping screw used and the width of the beam, in this case 30 + 30 + 10 mm.
Two more battens about 300 mm long are useful for movable and fixed stops.
All parts for homemade products are ready.
Both guides are laid out in parallel each other, and their ends are aligned. Two m10 bolts are inserted between the rails – they will create a gap of the required width.
In the jumper block it is better to pre-drill pilot holes for self-tapping screws using < u> wood drill with countersink .
The first pair of wood screws are screwed into the far corners. While the glue is still fresh, you can adjust the position of the jumper relative to the guides.
Closer to the center, the master drills two more holes, and drives the second pair of self-tapping screws.
The stop is also attached to the guides with self-tapping screws, while the 90-degree angle must be adjusted as accurately as possible. The final accuracy of the adaptation depends on this.
The bar of the second, movable stop has the same length. The ends of both strips are aligned, and on the second part, the center of the hole for the clamping screw is marked, coaxial with the groove between the guides.
A through hole for the bolt is drilled in this place. In this case, its diameter is 10 mm, for an m10 bolt with a semicircular head.
After the glue has set, the master grinds the surface of the product with an abrasive sponge and impregnates them with linseed oil.
Everything is ready for assembly. It is enough to fix the movable stop with a bolt, oversized washers and wing nut .
For the first check of the device in operation, the author clamps timber 20 × 30 mm between stops.
The length of the stops was chosen with a margin, this will allow making even ends during the first cut of the saw, which will serve as a guide for the edge of the cutting line.
The end of the blank is checked with a square.
Now on the workpiece made of chipboard, the author puts a mark of the cutting line. He combines it with the end of the stop, fixes the part, and performs the cut.

Of course, such a guide can be used for a router and an electric jigsaw. It is important to consider that the distance from the incisor to the sole edge of these instruments is different.
