Greetings to all lovers of homemade products and those who just looked at the site in search of interesting ideas that can come in handy in the everyday life of a DIYer. More recently, I have already described a method for making a small device for bending (rolling) a metal strip. Continuing the theme, I present to your attention another device from this series. Only it is designed for bending small diameter steel wire (approx. 3-5 mm). The design is easy to manufacture and use, another plus is that it does not take up much space, both during use and during storage. Even if you do not often have to bend something out of wire, such a device can be made, let it lie in a workbench drawer, but it will suddenly come in handy))))
Below in the photo you can see a set of necessary materials , which the author used for the manufacture: two large nuts, a piece of a stud for them, a metal plate about 5-6 mm thick, a piece of square rolled stock and a bolt for a hex key. I think everyone can find all this stuff by rummaging in their garage or workshop.
We take our nuts and screw them tightly to each other on a piece of studs, while the stud should protrude about 1-1.5 cm on one side, about the same on the other. Then we clamp all this in a vice. We take a grinder in our hands and begin to pour in the protruding end of the hairpin. The author did not apply any markings, everything is done by eye. We make two parallel saws to the nut, then cut off the excess at right angles. Then we reinstall the part and do the same. As a result, we should get such a square.

We take out the part from the vice and twist the nuts. Now we need to fix the pin tightly in something, so that it does not scroll, but this does not damage the thread. For this, the author uses some kind of mandrel, most likely from some kind of machine. In it, he clamps a hairpin and drills a through hole in the worn-off part. Its diameter must match the diameter of the wire that we will bend.

Without removing the pins from the frame, again clamp it in a vice. Take the grinder and cut a groove along the drilled hole. Everything should be accurate here. Armed with a flat file, we process the edges. Trying on the wire in the groove, it should not fit very tightly.

Take the hairpin out of the frame and screw it on her hooks, one to the very end (not cut off), as shown in the photo. Followed by the second. Clamp in a vice and weld the nut to the stud in a circle. We process the seam with a grinder.

We take out the part from the vise and try it on to the metal plate, try to center it. We fix everything with a steel clamp and weld the parts in a circle. At the same stage, we weld square bars to the edge of the upper nut. We also process this seam with a grinder.

We twist the nut from the stud and together where the rolled metal is welded (this will be a lever) we drill a blind hole, the diameter is determined by the bolt. We clamp the nut in a vice and cut a thread in the hole with a tap. We screw in our bolt. We cut off his hat with a grinder.

The base with the pin is clamped in a vice. We tighten the nut with the lever so that the bolt sticking out of it is flush with the “horns” on the hairpin. The device is ready, you can test it.

At this stage, the author tests his device, holding it in a vice. As you can see from the photo, the adaptation works, and he will effortlessly bend the necessary part from the wire. In my opinion, it turned out well, the only thing is that this homemade product is narrowly directed and designed only for small-diameter wire.
