In this article, he will tell us how he made an affordable, functional apparatus for simple steam distillation. In fact, it is a smaller and simpler version of the large commercial vehicle pictured above.
This is not a high-precision laboratory device, but with the help of it the master made countless hydrosols and essences, which were later used at home in cooking, as well as in air fresheners and when making soda. He even managed to achieve a 5-10% yield of essential oil from citrus peels and some dried spices (which is quite close to industrial indicators).

As a “heat-resistant tableware”, the master uses dishes called “pittu bamboo” in his area (see photo above). In fact, this is a double boiler with a slightly unusual shape for us. Unfortunately, I did not find this particular dish on sale. You can use another with similar properties, or purchase a ready-made distiller to make your own perfume. A great gift for a woman. As for the number of turns and the length of the pipe, the master advises to proceed from the fact that you can immerse the spiral in water at least half a meter.

Next you need to insert one end of the copper tube/coil into the cover, the other into the hole in the container. To prevent the tube from falling at the bottom of it, he installs a support in the form of a plastic tube.
Then you need to seal the holes. The master does this with the help of silicone, electrical tape, rubber.

Pour water into the distillation cube. Installing the grid. Place the product on the grid from which the essential oil will be drawn. We set the distillation cube on fire (gas, electric oven). Pour cold water into the cup where the coil is placed. You need to put a small container under the lower end of the coil.
Now you just have to wait for the jar to fill with the substance.

* To ensure better control over the distillation process, you can install a thermometer in the cap. You can then distill the compounds by adjusting the amount of heat supplied to the evaporator.
* The tube can be inserted into the pot either from the top or from the side.
* Coil cooling can be automated. At least a water pump can be connected to the lower tank. In this case, cold water (or another safe and effective refrigerant) will be pumped in and warmer water will drain.
* Make sure the hood is safe to drink or apply to the skin. After distillation, fairly concentrated compounds will be obtained – certainly more concentrated than in nature. They cannot always be used as natural materials from which they are extracted. Some are toxic and some are allergens.
