I faced the same problem. My workshop is quite small and when you start to make something, then in the process of work you may need a variety of tools and devices. Therefore, having worked with one tool, you put it where there is free space. Etc. Therefore, I had a need to make myself some kind of cabinet or shelf for storing power tools. After making a few sketches, I decided to combine the shelf with the cabinet into one project. And add to it also places for convenient storage and access to various small things.
The old pieces of Soviet furniture, which for the time being were lying idle and just took up free space, served as the material.
The tool that I needed during my work:
– circular saw and jigsaw,
– manual milling machine with milling cutters,
– screwdriver and drill with drills of several diameters,
tape measure with a ruler and a corner,
hammer.
Having decided on the necessary size convenient for me, I sawed off 5 blanks of the same width, but different in length. The 2 largest blanks are the sides of the cabinet. The remaining 3 are transverse parts. Because the cabinet will have compartments for small parts, it is necessary to make separation compartments. To do this, combining 2 side bars with each other, made shallow transverse grooves in the workpieces with a milling machine. They are necessary so that the partitions separating the compartments are inserted into them.

Fasteners were made with self-tapping screws for wood. Drilling holes with a thin drill, screwed a self-tapping screw into it. Then, to strengthen the structure, I sewed a bar on the top shelf along the entire length. The same was done with the lower part of the cabinet. The cabinet will have greater strength and these shelves will not bend much under load. Moreover, the shelves themselves are weakened by the grooves that were milled earlier. Of course, ordinary boards would be more suitable for these shelves, and not what they are made of, but at that time I simply did not have the necessary material for this. So keep that in mind when repeating this locker. But, looking ahead, I will say that the shelf has been hanging with me for the second year already, it has changed its location twice, it still has practically not changed its geometry. The lower part bent slightly under load and that's it.

I made some indent from the upper edges of the sidewalls and installed the last remaining transverse shelf. Slightly lower, I placed and secured another transverse bar, but narrower. Its purpose is that the cables from the power tool will be laid on it. A wide bar is absolutely unnecessary there, it will be inconvenient to use.

These partitions are rigidly attached to the main structure.

I made them from cans of liquid for washing car windows. These canisters, due to their non-standard non-rectangular shape, are not entirely convenient for using them for such purposes. But they suited me, tk. I do not intend to store anything large in them. Having cut out its semicircular part from the canister, I got the boxes I needed. I insert them into the prepared compartments.

I cut it into strips with a thickness equal to the ends of the shelves and, using studs with a wide head, fixed them throughout the entire area of ​​the cabinet. It turned out kind of even smart.

The cables feeding them were neatly rolled up and placed in the lower shelf specially made for these purposes.
