The design itself is quite simple, so the assembly of this homemade product will not be difficult, and therefore anyone can assemble it. For this grinding machine we need the following, namely:
– A sheet of plywood
– Slices of a board or bar
– Airplane-type brushless electric motor
– Regulator of revolutions for a brushless electric motor
– Shaft on bearings installed in the housing
– Wires
– Self-tapping screws
– Belt
– Driven and pinion gear
– Sheet plastic
– Power supply battery or power supply unit
Of the tools we also need the following:
– Superglue
– Sandpaper
– Hacksaw for wood and metal
– Vise
– Drill or screwdriver
– Set of drills of the required diameter
– Hexagons
– Soldering iron with all the necessary soldering accessories
– Stationery knife
Making a grinding machine:
As befits when assembling most homemade products, we will start the assembly from the base on which the rest of the structure will be built in the future. Cut the base itself from a sheet of plywood. We take plywood and saw off from it a rectangular blank of about the same size as that of the author of this homemade product. In order for the homemade product to stand steadily on the surface and not sway, it is necessary to light four legs at its corners. The legs can be cut from the same sheet of plywood or a bar, or even better, purchase special rubberized legs, with such legs, the homemade product will be safer to stand on the table and not move on it during work, since the rubber legs will dampen vibration, and the homemade product will not jump.

After that, the author of the homemade product cut out three more blanks from a board or bar, we need these blanks for the next one, namely, a rotating shaft will be attached to two of them, and an electric motor to the second. The dimensions of these parts depend on many factors, such as which engine, which grinding disc, which gears, etc. you will be using in this homemade product. Therefore, adjust all sizes for your specific parameters, then it will be more clear what's what.

We connect two of the three previously cut parts together into one “T” -shaped part; we will attach the rotating shaft body to the top of this part. First we fasten the blanks together with superglue. Then, using the same superglue, we glue the resulting workpiece to the base made at the very beginning, to the place indicated in the photo, then, so that everything would probably be held securely, we drive a couple of wood screws into the joints, having previously drilled small holes in order to avoid splitting wooden blanks.

Next, take the housing of the rotating shaft, in which the bearings are already pressed, you can buy such an interesting blank from our Chinese friends, in their online stores, or, if you have the opportunity, you can grind all the parts you need on a lathe yourself, but I don't think it could be cheaper. We fasten this housing with bearings to the workpiece previously bolted to the base (see photo).

Since the shaft is not additionally attached to anything and under load it can be squeezed out, which will be quite unpleasant when working with a finished tool. So in order to avoid this, the author of the homemade product decided to make special bushings, which, in turn, must be mounted on the shaft on both sides. To make such bushings, it is not at all necessary to use a lathe, but it is enough just to clamp a nut of a suitable diameter in a vice, and drill it with a drill of the same diameter as the diameter of the rotating shaft. As you already understood the drive will be belt. Therefore, we need to take two gears or pulleys. We will fix one of which on the main shaft, and the second on the electric motor shaft. The large gear is driven, we install it on the main shaft, and the leading gear on the engine, do not confuse.

We use the engine itself of a brushless aircraft type, we need to fix it on the engine mount, on that the remaining parts are cut out almost at the very beginning. We fasten the electric motor to our motor mount, then put the belt on the gears and adjust its tension to fix the motor mount on the base. It is important that the belt does not stand obliquely, is not loosened or overtightened, all these factors can lead to a quick failure of the belt. First, carefully fix the motor mount on the base with superglue, then screw in a couple of self-tapping screws.

One is the size of a backing grinding disc, the second is smaller to strengthen the structure. With a large core drill we cut in a round workpiece from a thick sheet of plastic, with a second drill we cut out a round workpiece from plywood with a smaller drill. We put the discs on the screwdriver and grind both discs as shown below. After we glue them together, then we cut out the sandpaper and glue it to this disk. Then we put the disk on our main shaft.

Everything is quite simple here. The table itself is cut out of a sheet of plywood, the dimensions of the table should slightly exceed the diameter of the grinding disc. Then, in order to extend the life of the table, the author decided to make the cover of this table plastic. To do this, he cut out another exactly the same plastic rectangle, which he glued to the plywood blank with superglue. Next, we install the finished table in its place, the table should be at the same height as the height of the rotating shaft, that is, for this we screw a bar of suitable width to the base, and already our table to this bar.

It remains only to connect the electric motor. To do this, we need to purchase a special speed regulator for brushless motors and it is desirable that this regulator be with an external potentiometer. We connect the electric motor to the speed controller according to the instructions given by the manufacturer of your controller. It remains only to supply power to our homemade product. You can do this using a power supply, but then you will be dependent on the outlet, or you can use a rechargeable battery, like the author of the homemade product.
