Good day, lovers to make something with their own hands. In this article, I will try to describe and show you in detail the manufacture of homemade products that are relevant today, namely, we will assemble an indoor floor fan. This fan can be used for domestic needs, dispelling hot air around, as well as for industrial, for example, for drying any warehouse garage premises, of a relatively small size, or, for example, put it in rooms where fish is dried to speed up the drying process … This fan will differ in its increased power compared to similar factory counterparts. It will be assembled from simple and inexpensive components, so almost everyone can assemble it if they wish. Well, well, I think you shouldn't delay with a long preface, let's go.
For this floor fan we need the following, namely:
– PVC sewer pipe 45mm
– Plug for PVC pipe
– Screw for fan
– Plywood sheet
– Bar or board
– 18650 battery
– Battery charge and discharge controller format 18650
– Sewer pipe adapter
– Power connector
– On/off switch
– Regular small door hinge
– DC motor
– Self-tapping screws
From the tools we also need the following:
– Soldering iron with all the necessary soldering accessories
– Drill or screwdriver
– A set of drills of the required diameter – – Superglue
– Paint for decorating homemade products – – Sandpaper
– Grinding machine (grinder) with grinding attachments
Making a floor fan :
Let's start with the supports of our floor fan, or rather, with its legs. The author of the homemade product decided to cut them out and cut the board. We need to cut off three identical blanks, no more than 30 centimeters long, in this case the final height of the fan does not depend on the height of these legs, we will adjust the height later due to the PVC sewer pipe. We make the cuts of the segments at an angle, at the same angle on both sides, this is necessary so that the legs stand at an angle for greater stability of the fan, and he needs it.
Having cut out the fan legs, the author decided to grind them, firstly, this is necessary in order to remove all possible memorized from the tree, and secondly, for a more aesthetic appearance of the homemade product. We will grind with an ordinary grinder and a suitable grinding attachment, if you are already using a sanded wood, I still recommend “sanding” the cuts.
Next, we move on to making the platform on which all our components will be mounted. To do this, we need to find a small sheet of plywood or MDF panels. The author of the homemade product decided to make the platform itself round, so we draw a large circle on a sheet of plywood using a compass (about the same size as in the photo below). Then, taking a jigsaw, carefully cut out the drawn circle on a sheet of plywood. Having cut this blank, it is advisable to grind it as well as the legs, especially the cuts.
The next step is to connect the legs and the platform to each other. To do this, we apply the legs to the platform as shown in the photo below. It should be noted that for stability, the legs must be at exactly the same distance from each other. First, we place the legs on the platform, temporarily grabbing them with superglue, then turn the platform over and drive two screws into each leg on the reverse side, such a connection will be more than enough.
Then we turn to the manufacture of a rechargeable battery, the author decided to assemble a rechargeable battery from the most popular and common 18650 batteries, these batteries can be found on any radio market, in most online stores, and you can also get them for free or almost free of charge by disassembling an old laptop, battery cells which consist of just rechargeable batteries of this format. These batteries must be used through special discharge and discharge controllers. These controllers can separately support the required voltage for each cell separately. We connect the batteries with the controller according to the scheme given in the photo below.
Let's move on to making a case for our newly assembled battery. The body will be assembled from plywood. To do this, cut out four rectangles from plywood, which should be connected to each other using superglue in such a way that we get a rectangular box. We check if the battery fits into its case, if so, we continue to assemble the homemade product. After making sure that the dimensions are suitable for us, we grind the body with a grinder and move on to the next step.
Next we should fix the battery case on a round base with legs. To do this, we will use the ordinary superglue that we used earlier, place the body in the center of the round workpiece and spill the joints with glue. For greater reliability, you can reinforce the connection with soda, simply sprinkling it with superglue that has not yet hardened.
Then we will make a stand on which the electric motor and fan screw will be mounted. To do this, we need an ordinary PVC pipe with a diameter of about 45 mm, this diameter will be more than enough for us. You choose the length of this pipe individually according to your needs, since the height of the fan will directly depend on the length of this pipe.
Having found and sawed off a pipe of a suitable size, we need to find a suitable adapter for it, thanks to which we could fix the pipe on a flat plywood blank (battery case cover). The author took an adapter that was not quite suitable, so he had to warm up the pipe with a hairdryer and pull it over this adapter.
After that, the adapter we have taken must be fixed on the battery cover. We will fix it right in the center of this cover, first temporarily fixing the adapter with superglue, then tightening it securely with self-tapping screws.
Then, in the case itself, fix the power connector for recharging our batteries. To do this, take a drill with a stepping drill and drill a hole of the required diameter for the power connector, fix the connector itself for greater reliability using superglue. In the same way as we fix and fix the switch, but not on the case itself, but not on its cover, next to the PVC pipe adapter.
We connect the power wires and the switch to our controller, as it is indicated in its instructions given by the manufacturer. And we bring the wires to the electric motor through the adapter, making a hole in the center.
We fasten the case cover through an ordinary door hinge, and so that it does not open, we fix it with a pair of small self-tapping screws. The loop is needed for easy and convenient maintenance of homemade products in case of such a need.
Next, we need a DC motor, the author of the homemade product took a powerful 250-watt collector motor, such a motor will be more than enough. For this engine, it is necessary to cut a platform from a sheet of plywood, to which we immediately screw it. Then we should take care of fixing the platform with the motor to the PVC pipe. Just screw the PVC pipe plug of a suitable diameter to the center of the platform, grind its upper part in advance as it was round.
That's all! We put the engine on a PVC pipe, connect the wires coming from the controller to it. And we put a screw of a suitable size on its shaft. The screw itself can be used to cool the car. As a result, you have a useful homemade product that can help you in the heat and dry rooms, working not from the outlet, but from the battery.
