– old keyboard;
– tact buttons;
– plywood scraps;
– small screws;
– putty for wood;
– PVA glue;
– soldering iron and accessories;
– manual jigsaw;
– glue gun.
First, let's disassemble the old “keyboard”.
Unscrew all the bolts from the bottom and the keyboard is easily separated.
We only need a board from the keyboard.
Let's put all this aside for now and take a small piece of plywood.

Let's make markup on plywood using the template made.
Use sandpaper to remove any bumps and burrs.
This is how the blank should look like.
Let's make a copy of the previous blank in the same way.
Step back 1 cm from the edge and apply the markings using a compass.
Let's drill a hole near the marking line, necessary for the jigsaw file to pass.

This is how it should look like.
[center ] The two resulting blanks must be glued together.
Distribute the glue evenly over the surface.
Firmly press the parts together.
After the glue has dried and a good connection, we will sandpaper it.
< a href = "https://usamodelkina.ru/uploads/posts/2021-07/1625837563_41.jpg" rel = "prettyPhoto"> Let's prepare thin plywood
According to the previously made markings (according to the shape of the manufactured part) with a hand jigsaw (carefully, since the plywood is thin), we will cut the cover.
This is what we should get.
Attach a cover on the main body part.
Drill the mounting holes with a thin drill.
In the course of work, screw the screws into the holes to avoid displacement.
After fixing the cover, we will carry out finishing.
Cut out the template in the form of a cross.
Apply on the left side and do the markup.
Then we will make this template with six even cuts in the form of circles.
Let's make the markup on the right side.
Approximate appearance of the future joystick.
We will make indentations according to the marking without applying great efforts (there should be no through holes).
Next, we make holes through our recesses with a small drill.
In the upper part and on the front side of the case we will also drill two through holes.
And finally, let's get down to electronic stuffing.
Let's disassemble old unnecessary electronics and find boards with tact buttons.
Solder the buttons we need from the boards.
Solder two wires to all buttons.
We will install buttons in the recesses of the case, pulling the wires into the through holes and glue them on the back with hot glue.
Sand the surface.
For aesthetics, paint the case.
Let's go back to the board removed from the keyboard.
Unsolder” dear “cable.
We also solder one LED and solder the wires to it.
Install the LED into the hole on the front side of the case, it can be additionally fixed hot glue.
We pull the usb cable through the hole on top.
Take the board from the “keyboard” and solder the LED, observing the polarity.
We solder the wires from the usb cable according to the indicated scheme.
Then, after a careful examination of the tracks, we will determine the contacts of the game buttons.
We clean the contacts we need on the board.
We solder wires to the contacts from the corresponding buttons on the future gamepad.
Place everything in the case, close the lid.
And now our magnificent device is ready.
Turn on your favorite toy and test it.
According to the author of the homemade product, everything works fine, although I'm not sure about it, so how the usb cable was soldered directly to the board where the ps/2 cable used to be, and they differ in some functions, who thinks what is why, write in the comments.
But do not rush to get upset, because the device has the right to life with some additions or changes, otherwise I would not publish it, namely: the use of a special adapter from ps/2 to usb, good now on “Alik” (AliExpress ) everything is on sale, or you can use a board from a usb keyboard in this homemade product.
