List of materials:
– reducer from an old grinder; < br> – corner;
– sheet steel;
– bolts and nuts.
List of tools:
– welding machine;
– drilling machine;
– taps for threading;
– tape measure, marker, etc.
The process of making homemade products:
Step one. Making the bed
For the bed, the author took a piece of the channel, it needs to be well cleaned of rust so that it is smooth, the tailstock will ride on it.
Drill two holes in the channel, and cut the space between them with a grinder … We carefully process the resulting gap with a flat file so that there are no burrs.
Step two. Making a tailstock
Cut off a piece of the channel and drill holes, then a reducer from the grinder is screwed to the piece of the channel, this will be the driven axis of the machine, against which the workpiece will rest.
We weld steel plates to the channel on the sides, as a result we get a tailstock that can move along the channel. The headstock is fixed with a bolt with a nut.
So that the headstock can be moved forward and tightened the workpiece, the author also adapted the bolt, an emphasis was placed under it, the stop itself can also be moved along the bed, it is also fixed with a bolt and a nut.
Step three. Headstock
The headstock is a piece of channel which is welded to the bed at right angles. A grinder is screwed to this part, we make the corresponding fasteners from thick steel under it. To obtain alignment, the author twists the tailstock shaft and the grinder shaft with a nut before welding.
Step fourth. Handyman
Making a handyman, here the author used a steel plate and a corner. The handguard is attached to the bed with a bolt and nut, it can be positioned at any angle to the workpiece and at the desired distance.
Step five. Fasteners
Cut off pieces of the corner and drill holes for screws or screws. The resulting fasteners are firmly welded to the bed. As a result, the lathe can be screwed to the table so that it does not move from vibrations during work.
Step six. Final touches and tests
In the end, the author sharpened the tailstock axis with a grinder, the workpiece will rest against here. And we put self-tapping screws on the grinder shaft using standard nuts, as the author did.
The homemade product is ready, you can test it, but you must definitely reduce the speed, for this we use a dimmer. As a demonstration, the author has carved an excellent tool handle from a block.
This completes the project, I hope you liked the homemade product and found useful thoughts for yourself. Good luck and creative inspiration if you decide to do this again. Don't forget to share your ideas and DIYs with us!
