Secretary of state Mike Pompeo agreed with the view expressed in an interview on Thursday, March 21, that God was able to help Donald Trump to become President to protect Israel from Iran.
This week Pompeo made a working trip to the Middle East. In Jerusalem Chris Mitchell of Christian Broadcast Network Pompeo asked: “Could it be that Mr. trump became President, to help save the Jewish people from Iran?”.
In your question Mitchell also compared trump Queen Esther, the main heroine of the Jewish holiday Purim, which was celebrated this week.
“As a Christian, I certainly believe it’s possible”, — said Pompeo.
The Secretary added: “I am confident that the Lord sees the work done by our administration to keep the state of Israel and democracy in the middle East.”
Pompeo’s comments came shortly after trump announced that the United States recognizes Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan heights – the territory conquered from Syria during the six day war in 1967.
John Kirby, rear Admiral, retired, former state Department spokesman and now military and diplomatic analyst for CNN, struck Pompeo criticized because of these comments.
“The approval of the Secretary of state Pompeo that President trump may have been sent by God to save Israel, it would be laughable if it wasn’t another indication that our Secretary of state recklessly crosses the line that should exist between Church and state, “said Kirby.
According to him, the idea that foreign policy is a kind of “Evangelical,” as the American President — a defender of only the Judeo-Christian values, only fuels the thoughts and ideas of extremists.
