Hello, dear readers and homemade products!
Many of you have a summer cottage or a personal plot, and often want to add something new to its design.
In this article, the author of the YouTube channel “HomeMadeModern” will tell you how he did hanging gardens for a patio or terrace. This technique not only allows you to decorate the site, but also provides additional opportunities for placing more plants.
This project is very simple to manufacture, and easy to implement with a minimum of tools.
Materials necessary for home-made.
– Carabiners, chains
– RIM-bolts, nuts, washers
– Spray paint.
Tools used by the author.
– Pliers, nippers – Tape measure, marker.
The author follows the simplest idea – he intends to use ordinary plastic flower pots. At the top, the walls of such a pot are bent, forming the upper rim – this is the most durable, solid part of the future planter.
Three holes are drilled in three places of the rim at the same distance from each other using a drill or screwdriver .
First, the whole operation is carried out on one pot, and then (using it as a template), holes are drilled in the same places in the rest of the pots.
EYE bolts are inserted into each hole and secured to a washer and nut. The washer will prevent possible chips on the back of the pot wall (and this happens often if the plastic is fragile and overdried).
Then carabiners are attached to joining chains.
The chains themselves, on the recommendation of the author, should be chosen with large links. These are usually cheaper specimens. The larger the links, the easier it is to attach carabiners, staples and, as a result, the more options for assembling the pots you will get.
So, the master cuts three chains of equal length for the first pot. The links of the chain are made of rather thin wire, so it can easily be bitten off with regular wire cutters .
First, the first pot sits on the carabiners, then the author counts out an equal number of links, and the second pot is fastened directly above the first. If you hang the planter on ropes or cable ropes, it can be difficult to predict the required distance between each pair of pots, and distortions are possible. With a chain, this does not happen: here everything is varied, the ability to rearrange the carbine to a link higher or lower. This is its advantage.
The author intends to hang several varieties of plants at once on one chain, so that a vertical plantation will form. When choosing a distance for pots, you should take into account the height of the plants themselves.
To give the pots a more aesthetic look, the craftsman applies aerosol enamel to them. You can experiment with color yourself.
Next, powerful hooks or staples are attached to the upper beams of the steel frame, through which chains are then passed.
Of course, the fastening system may differ, depending on the design.
In addition to vertical chains, the master also extends one horizontal one, which gives him even more space in placing and moving vertical low pots.
Before loading soil into pots and planting flowers, all distances should be carefully adjusted so that the pots hang evenly and symmetrically relative to each other. If there is no drainage hole in the pot, you should make it yourself or put natural drainage on the bottom of the pot – sand, expanded clay, medium-sized pebbles. Then the roots will not undercut.
When all the flowers are planted and their location is verified, you can remove the extra sections chains.
In this project, the author has curtained the perimeter of the small courtyard, but the decoration can be continued by connecting the chain lines with diagonals.
If you want to hang single large and heavy pots, you can use an additional crosspiece, thanks to which the chains will be placed vertically.
Such crosspieces can be removed from old chairs, washing machine drums, and other rubbish.
Holes are also prepared in the pot that coincide in location with the ends of the cross. < br> This time the RYM-bolts are screwed into both the pot and the ends of the cross.
After cutting the chains to the desired length, carabiners are attached at both ends.
Structural elements can also be coated with aerosol enamel.
In such a man-made gazebo, you can place several types of odorous plant species , for example, lavender, lemon balm or decorative rose, and hang a hammock in the center …
Thanks to the author for a simple suspension system for flower pots. < br> Good mood, good health, and interesting ideas to everyone! < br> Subscribe to the telegram channel of the site, so as not to miss new articles.
