The US and EU announced new sanctions against Russia because of the incident in the Kerch Strait

The U.S. Treasury and the authorities of the European Union on 15 March announced new sanctions against Russian natural and legal persons involved in the incident in the Kerch Strait.

The U.S. Treasury has added to the sanctions list six citizens of Russia and eight Russian enterprises “in response to ongoing Russian aggression in Ukraine.” In the “black list” includes those physical and legal persons, which “played a role in the unjustified Russian attack on Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait”, reported on the Agency’s website.

Under U.S. sanctions were involved in the “attack on Ukrainian ship” the FSB and the organizers of the elections in the self-proclaimed DND.

In the U.S. sanctions list added eight more companies, including instrument-making concern “Oceanpribor”, manufacturer of diesel engines for shipbuilding “Star”, engineering “Plant “Fiolent”” and other enterprises.

“The United States and our transatlantic partners will not allow the Russian aggression against Ukraine without a hindrance. This joint initiative with our partners in the European Union and Canada reinforces our shared commitment to the introduction of targeted and meaningful sanctions in response to the Kremlin’s attempts to ignore international norms and undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine”, — said the Minister of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin.

Shortly before that, the European Union also announced new sanctions against Russia in connection with the incident in the Kerch Strait. Under the sanctions were eight Russians involved in the detention of Ukrainian sailors.
