SINGAPORE: Three folks, including a three-year-old, have died after a fire broke out in a Housing Board (HDB) flat in Bedok on Friday (May 13).
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) stated it was alerted to a fire at Block 409 Bedok North Avenue 2 at about 6.35am.
Four folks had been discovered unconscious in the unit, which had a “vast accumulation of combustible items”, stated SCDF.
A 56-year-old lady was discovered in the lounge, whereas three others – a 35-year-old man, a 34-year-old lady and the toddler – had been in the bed room.
The lady in the lounge was pronounced lifeless on the scene by a paramedic.
The 35-year-old man and the toddler died in hospital as a result of their accidents, stated the Singapore Police Force on Friday afternoon, including that police investigations are ongoing.
SCDF earlier stated that cardiopulmonary resuscitation was carried out on two of the folks discovered in the bed room and that three had been taken to Changi General Hospital.
“Due to the clutter in the bedroom, firefighters had to force their way into the bedroom to conduct the rescue operation,” it added.
SCDF additionally pressured their method into an adjoining resident unit and rescued three folks, who had been assessed for minor accidents. The three folks refused to be taken to the hospital.
Sixty folks had been evacuated from neighbouring models as a precautionary measure.
