A COUNCIL has sparked anger by reducing down two 70ft trees – after a single grievance by a neighbour.

Bristol City Council took down the large cypress trees regardless of a sit-in protest and a marketing campaign by native households.

The trees got an Anti-Social Behaviour Order and categorised as ‘hedges’ – in a transfer mocked as ‘ridiculous’ by locals residents.

The trees have sat in a quiet cul-de-sac in Horfield in Bristol for 50 years and have been standard with children and wildlife together with birds and squirrels.
